Bell Canada
Toronto, Canada In 1991, Hershel signed a contract with Bell Canada for a Video Network Controller software package. The software controlled 28 digital cross connects and created pathways through the network to carry video traffic. The pathways were 45 Mbps T3 circuits. Bell Canada used the system to sell video feeds to news stations and sporting events throughout Canada. The system allowed broadcasters to transfer feeds on private fiber to centralized control centers, where commercial advertising was added prior to broadcast. Copenhagen and Aarhus Denmark In 1999, Hershel signed a series of contracts for enhancements and upgrades to the Danish telephone company's SDP network. Firstly, the SDP hardware was upgraded, and all software systems were recompiled, tested and brought online prior to the Y2K deadline. Secondly, Hershel performed VOIP testing and integration using the Ericsson system. Finally, Hershel designed an extension to Teledanmark's very successful Duet product. Baltimore, Maryland In 1992, Hershel developed a Video Pathway Controller for use with digital cross connects. The Video Controller allowed the carrier to provide a high-speed (45 Mbps) private video service to over 150 schools in Maryland. The system was known as the Interactive Distance Learning System, IDLS. An IDLS client included 3 video cameras, and 3 television feeds in one classroom.
